2017 Ford GT Price And Specs

The first generation of the Ford GT lasted only two years, but Ford decided to release a sec-generation of the GT in 2017. Have in mind that we are not counting GT40 models even they are more than similar to what we are getting today. As it seems, it should be the best one yet. At the 2015 North American Auto Show in Detroit, the company presented the all-new 2017 Ford GT. The fascinating features about the new GT are its extra-light carbon fiber and aluminum construction, which significantly reduced its weight, and new EcoBoost V-6 engine with more than 600 hp. It will be very exciting to see the new model on the road.

Exterior wise, the 2017 Ford GT is coming with a fresh and modern design. The front end will have a long wedge shape, because of the mid-engine. It will also have a sloped nose with a pair of ducts, creating very aggressive, but unique look. The rear end will be more modern than the previous GT. There will be a set of flying spoiler wings, which will provide extra downforce to ensure the power delivery and good level of grip. It will also have a large set of cannon exhaust outlets, along with an aggressive rear diffuser. New GT will bring upward-swinging doors for easier entrance and exit from the cockpit.

Review

The model will keep some of the subtle details to stay in touch with its predecessors, such as, the tail lamps. Many parts of this GT is made from carbon-fiber, so the overall weight is reduced which helps out with performances, top speed, handling and fuel economy that will not be the main selling point for new supercar.

The cockpit of the new Ford GT is all about control and usability. It comes with seats integrated into the model’s monocoque shell, making a direct connection to the chassis and providing better feel of the car’s behavior for the driver while also improving safety level. New GT comes with adjustable steering wheel and pedals, along with all needed controls mounted to it so you would be able to find perfect seating position. Instead of a standard gauge cluster we are getting large LCD display, with multiple modes and options for every driver to customize it.

Specs

The 2017 Ford GT will come powered with a next-generation of the EcoBoost motor, the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 and it will use two turbos. Ford hasn’t revealed exact numbers so far, but it said that this engine is the most powerful production EcoBoost ever, capable to deliver more than 600 hp. Ford is able to crack out so much power from a small engine thanks to various enhancements such as a friction roller-finger-follower valvetrain, combination port/direct injection system and two turbochargers.

Top Speed

The power from the engine is sent to the wheels through a 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission. The model will come with one flaw in this department, not having a manual transmission and it will use only rear-wheel-drive system. Some drivers will not like the lack of manual option but we are pretty sure that dual clutch option will be faster. Thanks to large 20-inch alloys that offer high performance wide tires and reduced overall weight, it should be able to break the 4-second barrier in a 60 mph sprint. The top speed should be in the 200 mph range and well beyond it making it one of the fastest Ford models ever.

2017 Ford GT Price

As for the price of the 2017 Ford GT, it will probably be competitive with the Audi R8, so the price tag will most likely be around $125.000. The biggest competitors to this model are: the Lamborghini Huracan and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Not so good things about the new Ford GT are its lack of manual transmission and its high price. However, the model will come with some more than good features such as its most powerful EcoBoost ever, with 600+ horsepower, and advanced carbon-fiber construction for reduced weight.
