2016 Ford Fusion Energi Price And Review

The Ford Fusion Energi is a plug-in hybrid midsize sedan which Ford delivered to the market as a 2013 model year. This model is still in its first generation of production. Now, Ford is coming with its new 2016 Ford Fusion Energi that will come with few changes in the exterior department, while the interior will be well-equipped but will retain similar layout like in the currently available version. The most important part of this model is its innovative plug-in hybrid powertrain that brings few tweaks to improve fuel efficiency.

The 2016 Ford Fusion Energi is going to have two different trim levels: the SE Luxury and the Titanium. Standard and additional exterior features of this vehicle are not just functional, they also complete its modern look adding a lot to aggressive yet refined stance. Some of the standard exterior features of the SE Luxury model are: parking lamps integrated into headlamps and fascia, a single exhaust with chromed tip, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, fog lights, etc.


When it comes to interior we are getting large number of standard and optional features such as: leather upholstery, heated side mirrors, heated front seats, auto dimming rearview mirror, power adjustable front seats, keypad entry, dual-zone air conditioning, cruise control, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, trip computer, Sync voice controls system, MyFord Touch infotainment system, sound system with 6 speakers, satellite radio, CD player, USB plug, etc. Furthermore there are features like: navigation, automated parallel parking, rear parking sensors, remote ignition, backup camera, sunroof, etc. Driver Assist package includes automatic high beams, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning system, blind spot monitoring and rain-sensing wipers.




As for the Titanium model, it is delivered with the same standard features as SE Luxury models plus rear parking sensors, sound system with 12 speakers, back up camera and front sport seats. The optional features are the same minus the features already included in the standard equipment of the Titanium trim level. Both models will be offered with ten different exterior colors. The interior colors for the SE Luxury model are Charcoal Black and Dune, while for the Titanium model are: Charcoal Black and Medium Soft Ceramic.

Most people are interested in the Energi version of the Fusion because of its innovative plug-in hybrid powertrain. It utilizes 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle I-4 engine and electric motor that receives power from 7.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This gasoline engine and electric motor combined can deliver a maximum output of 188 hp which means that there will be no changes compared to previous version but still it is more than enough for this sedan. The Energi will have CVT transmission and it will deliver power to the front wheels. The model can be driven on pure electricity for about 21 miles and we you stop you can recharge your battery pack with standard 120-volt convenience cord, or with an available 240-volt home charging option.



Fuel Efficiency

According to reports, this car will be able to achieve 100 MPGe, this is only on pure electric power. Using hybrid mode, the model will achieve 47 mpg in the city, 47 mpg on the highway and 47 mpg in combined driving. These were the figures announced for the first Fusion Energi but not long after that Ford had to lower since it was almost impossible to achieve these results. For new version it is important to offer significantly better results than 40/36 mpg and Ford aims to reach numbers they planned with previous model.

The SE Luxury model of the 2016 Ford Fusion Energi will cost around $33,000, while the Titanium trim level will be about $2,000 more. After tax incentives and various rebates these prices go even slightly lower but that mainly depends on the state in which you are buying it. The main competitors to this new Ford’s model are: the Toyota Prius Plug-in, the Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid, the Chevrolet Volt and the Kia Optima Hybrid.
