The 2016 Ford Everest is coming soon and we could hear that this model will not be much different than the current model since the 2015 model year came with few improvements and all the goodies that one SUV enthusiast might want. The exterior will come with changes mainly in front area, while the interior will be well-equipped. The price will remain more or less the same, while the North American buyers will have some extra fees, because the new Everest isn’t intended for their market.
New Everest will come with drag coefficient of 0.389 and that is the best-in class. This low number has been achieved thanks to an under-body shield which helps the air to pass underneath the car plus few modifications to the aerodynamics. Same like before we are getting car that brings boxy outline, thanks to a few changes it will get a classy and even modern look. At the front, new SUV will be equipped with redesigned trapezoidal grille with incorporated LED headlights and LED daytime running lights. At the back, its squared shape will be combined with embellished LED taillights resulting in nicer and more modern overall look.
Interior wise, the main advantages of the 2016 Ford Everest are the comfort and space for all of its passengers. It will be more luxurious and elegant looking which certainly is a good thing. Everest will come with three seat rows and the two back rows will have the ability to fold down and make more cargo space when you need to transport larger items. Front seats will be heated and eight-way movable allowing you to find perfect driving position and fatigue free ride. Among the tech features there will be the SYNC 2 infotainment system with 8-inch touchscreen while the steering wheel will offer multi-functional controls.
With new 2016 Ford Everest we will have three engine options, one petrol and two diesel engines. The base one will be a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder petrol engine which will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This version can pump out 250 hp and 270 pound-feet of torque. One of the diesel engines will be a 2.2-liter Duratorq 4-cylinder TDCi engine capable to deliver 150 hp and 277 pound-feet of torque.
For those who want some extra power and torque there will be a 3.2-liter Duratorq 5-cylinder TDCi engine with 200 hp and 347 pound-feet of torque. The diesel engine will come with a choice of two gearboxes: a 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmission. Max load is 750 kg and with this setup it can tow a maximum of 3.000 kg of cargo which makes it the best in the class.
At this point there are only slim chances that the Everest model will be offered on the US market and its a real shame. One of the things that would be interesting is to see the diesel units and how would those models sell in US. Significantly better fuel economy with great amount of torque is something that we are not getting from petrol units or even from turbocharged versions.
2016 Ford Everest Price
The new 2016 Ford Everest should be released any time soon, we expect it to be available during the fall of this year. This 7-traveler SUV won’t be more expensive than last year version, so the price will be somewhere around $45,000. American buyers will have to pay some extra money for the shipment expenses and custom fees, because the model will not be available to customers in the North America. It has been announced mainly for Southeast Asia, Central and Southern Africa and Australian market. The main rival of this SUV are the Toyota 4Runner and the Nissan Xterra.
