In this electronic age, electronic cars are making big strides. Today we will be discussing two of the frontline contenders that have changed electric cars and this market segment. This time Ford’s Fusion Energi is going to take on Chevrolet Volt.
Since Ford Fusion is based on its non-hybrid version has an advantage over its competitor. Unlike many other hybrid cars Fusion doesn’t scream and say look at me I am a hybrid, on the other hand its Aston Martin kind of look gives it’s a very normal car like look that we and many others really like.
Chevrolet Volt on the other hand is a battery powered electric car that has a gas powered engine if the car runs out of battery. With a compact design and flashy LED lamps Volt somewhat falls in the category of the conventional electric cars.
Ford is paring down the new Fusion’s powertrain lineups. The V6 engine is no more there and it is replaced by a turbocharged and a direct injection engine. Hybrid cars need to have good mileages and Fusion Energi doesn’t disappoint on that front with mileage of 100 mpge until batteries are depleted after which it will return 44/41/43 mp. Batteries are enough for about 20 to 21 miles of ride until are depleted and many short trips can be done without usage of gasoline.
2015 Ford Fusion Energi Vs 2015 Chevrolet Volt
Chevy’s Volt is powered up by a 16 KWh Lithium Ion battery which gives out 149 hp and 273 pound feet of torque electric motor and when battery is down to 30 percent a 84 hp 1.4 liter four cylinder engine kicks in. Battery is enough for about 37 miles to 38 miles. After batteries are depleted we will be getting slightly lower results than with Fusion, you can expect to see 37.
The 2015 Ford Fusion Energi has interior similar to the current outgoing version. Dedicated to install a sleek roofline and without a sunroof, the car has a very good headroom and can easily accommodate four adults with over six foot height with ample knee room. Seats are shaped well and other features like a touch screen LED panel with Bluetooth connectivity make it an effective buy.
Volt also is very good interior wise but might be a bit congested if four big adults are seated. It has a good 10.6 cubic foot cargo area. Other important features include automatic air conditioning with cruise control that has touch sensitive controls. Music system with 7 inch touch screen that allows Bluetooth connectivity and premium Bose speakers to give out wonderful sound.
2015 Ford Fusion Energi
To sum up the battle of 2015 Ford Fusion Energi and 2015 Chevrolet Volt. I’ll have to say Ford’s Fusion has a slight advantage over Volt when we consider engine and exterior looks while interiors and other feature are pretty much even.
