Just like the 2014th model of Fusion Energi the 2015 Ford Fusion Energi model will be delivered with almost no changes. It is too early to bring additional changes since this vehicle was delivered in 2013 as all new model.
Since this is a hybrid vehicle we will start from what powers and makes this vehicle go. Most important for hybrids are the fuel economy numbers since buyers are getting these vehicles to further lower fuel bill. In case where we have plug-in hybrids that are capable of going on electric energy only it is not that simple to give fuel consumption results.
2015 Ford Fusion Energi Review
Combined EPA rating in EV mode is 100 MPGe which is quite respectable result. For comparison Toyota Prius offers 95 MPGe while the Chevrolet Volt returns 98 MPGe. When the battery pack is depleted (about 20 to 21 miles) this vehicle will be driven like a standard hybrid and will return 43 mpg in combined drive cycle.
Under the hood we are getting 2.0 liter inline four cylinder gasoline engine that is paired with electric motor that is supplied with electric energy from Lithium Ion battery. Total power of this setup is 195 hp and specially adjusted continuously variable transmission is used to send power to the front wheels. Battery pack is enough for about 20 or 21 miles but the interesting thing is that the 2015 Ford Fusion Energi can run in EV modes up to speeds of about 85 mph. In case that you are pressing the gas pedal little more gasoline engine will kick in and help out to improve acceleration and respond to your needs.
When it comes to performances this vehicle comes with a decent numbers. Acceleration from 0 to 60 is done in about 8 seconds which is faster than what we are getting from Chevrolet Volt that needs about 8.5 seconds for the same sprint. When you want to drive in EV mode only you can select EV Now mode and in that case you will need about 15 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph.
This is a great vehicle for those that have many shorter trips where significant fuel savings can be achieved but also for those that have higher range needs. Battery can be recharged over night and it needs about 7 hours on 120 volt outlet and 2.5 hours on a 240 volt outlet. You will save on fuel but you will be getting higher electricity bill. Still, this should be a pretty good save.
Specs Of 2015 Fusion Energi
There are only few things that we do not like about this vehicle but the biggest problem is that the battery pack is placed into the luggage compartment and reduces its usability. This is something Ford needs to change and place it slightly different.
Many other things we really like. For example, the looks. Design of this vehicle is really nice and we are getting much better looks than from the competition like Toyota Prius, Volt and similar. One of the things that Ford did correct is the cabin materials usage and the 2015 Ford Fusion Energi comes with much higher quality of used materials and with pretty good design making it quite pleasant place to be.
