Vehicles define a lot about the person who owns them, they can make or mar the impression of an individual but in today’s world there are a number of things that need to be kept in mind before one goes shopping. The overall appearance of the vehicle, its interior, comforts level, safety and economy too.
With the fast paced world of today, the designs of vehicles are changing continuously and new elegantly shaped aerodynamic vehicles are now taking place of the older models. The automobile industry has manufacturers from various countries that produce automobiles of various kinds. Two of these include Ford and Mazda.
Ford is a US based company where as Mazda has its roots originating from Japan. Here we shall be discussing in detail two of their vehicles, the 2015 Ford Escape and 2015 Mazda CX-5. Both of these vehicles fall under the compact SUV category and are direct competitors.
2015 Ford Escape
The first thing that comes into mind is the price, although both these vehicles are still to be released by their respective manufacturers, the prices have been announced and the 2015 Ford Escape’s price range is estimated to be from $ 23,900 to $ 31,900 including the destination delivery charges. The Mazda however has a starting price of approximately $ 21,500. The difference however is not much, when you install extra features to the Mazda, the cost becomes approximately the same as that of the Ford.
Although both of the vehicles have a well-designed, roomy interior yet the Ford seems to get an upper edge over the Mazda because the drive experience seemed to be more comfortable in it. The Mazda weighs 1555 kg whereas the Ford weighs approximately 1580 kg but still the Ford manages to give a better fuel economy per liter as compared to the CX-5. In today’s world where everyone’s main focus rests on fuel efficient and low cost running vehicles, the Ford Escape gets advantage in this category by providing extra mileage.
2015 Ford Escape Vs 2015 Mazda CX-5
The Ford escape doesn’t come with all-wheel drive and is not very fast but then the Mazda is also not one of those very quick ones and because of its dull and rather very ordinary interior design it does not have much to offer to the passengers and in case you decide to get extra features, it becomes quite costly. It also doesn’t have any low range gear.
While considering from the power point of view, the 2015 Ford Escape offers 2.5 liter four cylinder 168 hp and 167 pound feet of torque base engine. More power is offered by 1.6 liter EcoBoost unit with 178 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque and if you want more there is the 2.0 liter EcoBoost unit with 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is set to 22/31/25 mpg for 2.5 liter version, smallest 1.6 liter EcoBoost offers 23/33/26 mpg while the most powerful 2.0 liter EcoBoost returns 22/30/25 mpg.
On the other hand the 2.0 I4 FWD Mazda has 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque and returns 26/32/29 mpg. More powerful 2.5 liter four cylinder engine is capable of delivering 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque while the fuel economy is rated to 25/32/27 mpg.
Due to the extra features like the power front seats, power moon roof, cruise control and parking sensors the 2015 Ford Escape seems to be a better option than the 2015 Mazda CX-5.
