The 2015 Ford Ecosport is a mini sport utility vehicle developed for the emerging markets like Brazil and China and will only be available in 10 countries. Reports suggest that by the end of the decade, we can expect it to be delivered to other countries including the US.
From the front, the 2015 Ecosport is eye catching from every angle despite the fact that the current design is a carryover from the 2014 model with few modifications. This car is impressive in every way, with excellent fuel economy ratings and good power production, we are sure that it will be quite appealing to many SUV lovers.
Review Of 2015 Ford Ecosport
Under the 2015 Ecosport hood, there are three engines for every buyer to choose from. Two of those are of 1.5 liter four pot engines, one uses gasoline and is a base option while the other is the turbocharged diesel unit. Third option is the 1.0 liter three cylinder EcoBoost unit and all of these will be mated with either a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic transmission gearbox.
It is unfortunate that it will only come only in front-wheel drive. The diesel unit delivers 90hp and 142 Nm of torque. Gasoline version pumps out 110 hp but will be revved hard to achieve decent performances even it offers more power than diesel unit. The 1.0 liter three-cylinder Eco Boost engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox might be the best choice. Automatic transmission for this engine is not available but might be added in future models. This prize-winning modern marvel engine will produce 123 hp and 148lb-ft of torque which makes it much better options than a larger naturally aspirated unit.
When it comes to fuel efficiency, the 1.0 liter engine has a rating of 53.3mpg. The value keeps being tossed between 40 mpg and 53.3 mpg but we can only be certain after its release. Its 1.5L diesel is rated at a magnificent 61.4 mpg. This is impressive for a car of its class and it should come as a relief to many as fuel prices continue to rise.
Prototype test have shown that it feels smooth on the road with the 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine being the better wager. It feels much more comfortable when driving and is very responsive in gear and felt better balanced. We are not saying that diesel does not offer refinement but still slightly more power from EcoBoost unit is felt.
When it comes to safety, the Ecosport is equipped with seven airbags and an extra knee bag for the driver. Electronic stability control and full suite of brake assistance items is standard. Bottom line, the 2015 Ford Ecosport has you covered when it comes to your safety, employing the latest in technology to provide maximum safety.
2015 Ford Ecosport Price
One disadvantage this car is not very cost effective when compared to its main competitors like the Nissan Juke and the Renault Captur. It will start at $ 14,000. Those with 1.5 liter TDCI engine under the hood will start at a whopping $ 16,495. The maximum carrying capacity of this SUV is 5 people.
