The 2015 Ford Edge is a mid-size two row crossover with advanced technology that makes it stand out among competitors. Compared to its predecessors, this 2015 model has received significant redesign with a new look and an upgraded interior. Considering the fact that previous Equinox cars were the biggest in the SUV class, it’s good to finally see this company listening to its consumers and reducing the size of the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox model.
Taking all changes incorporated into new model from Ford, it’s good to see that we have the opportunity to test all these improvements and go head to head allowing them to prove their worth. We are sure that this will be much better model and that it will be able to improve sale results of its predecessor but will it be able to compete with Equinox.
Even at this point we still do not have any official details about powertrains that will come we do expect to see few really nice engines. The 2015 Edge will be powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine capable of making 285hp and 253 lb-ft of torque. There will be an optional 2.0 liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine that will deliver 240hp. Third option that is expected is again the 3.7 liter V6 engine just like it was the case with the previous model and it will make an outstanding 305hp.
2015 Chevrolet Equinox Vs 2015 Ford Edge
Another option that has not been yet confirmed is the smaller 1.5 or 1.6 liter EcoBoost unit, if this engine comes to the lineup we do expect it to be available on emerging markets and most likely not in the U.S. The transmission we are getting here is limited to six-speed automatic while the all-wheel-drive configuration will be optional. Prototype tests of the Ford have shown that the 2015 Edge feels smoother and all that power it produces makes it feel stronger with a good grip on the road.
The fuel efficiency of the 2015 Equinox averages at 26mpg in the city and 34mpg on the highway. This is slightly above average and considering that size reduction of the Equinox was meant to make it better in terms of fuel efficiency, it’s good to see Chevrolet delivering on its promise. The 2.0 liter engine of the Ford will have an average rating of 24mpg while the remaining engine options will have an average of 28 mpg. It’s clear that the Equinox is better when it comes to preserving your fuel which will come as a relief to most Chevrolet Equinox fans.
Considering the fact that the 2015 Ford Edge is still in development in readiness for some of this year auto shows. The exact starting cost is not yet available but do not expect anything lower than $ 28,000. The Equinox on the other hand is estimated to start at about $ 25,000. These are preliminary figures but it’s clear that the Equinox will be slightly cheaper. Both cars are expected to be available at the beginning of 2015.
Comparison Of 2015 Chevrolet Equinox And 2015 Ford Edge
This was a tough battle with both cars matching each other. The Ford won when it came to powertrain but the Equinox is better in fuel economy and has a lower price tag. When it comes to the design, the Equinox’s new design is brilliant but it does not match the elegance of the Edge. In this case, we can call it a tie.
